Windy City Bulls Fall to Wisconsin Herd in Home Opener

The Windy City Bulls, presented by BMO, the NBA G League affiliate of the Chicago Bulls, lost to the Wisconsin Herd 112-102 in Windy City’s home opener Saturday night at NOW Arena. The Bulls were led by guard Carlik Jones, who finished with 21 points, five rebounds and eight assists.


Chicago Bulls Two-Way forward Kostas Antetokounmpo chipped in 14 points, shooting 50% from the field. Chicago Bulls Assignment center Marko Simonović put up a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

The Bulls started the game off strong with a 13-point lead midway through the first quarter after a dunk by Antetokounmpo. Forward Joe Wieskamp quickly caught fire for Wisconsin, scoring eight points in the first quarter to bring the Herd within six points.

Windy City had two buzzer-beaters. Guard Javon Freeman-Liberty beat the buzzer with a layup after a steal by Jones to tie the game 57-57 at the half. Anthony Tucker then hit a three-pointer to beat the buzzer at the end of the third quarter, tying the game 78-78 heading into the final 12 minutes.

The Herd rattled off a 12-0 run early in the fourth quarter to take command of the game. Wisconsin was able to fend off a late Windy City surge to earn a 10-point win.

Wisconsin was led by Weiskamp’s 30 points after the forward went 11-for-16 from the field. Guard Lindell Wigginton chipped in 22 points for the Herd.

The Bulls start the season 1-1 following back-to-back games against the Herd.

Next, the Bulls travel to Detroit on Monday, Nov. 7 to play the Motor City Cruise at Wayne State Fieldhouse. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on NBAGLeague.com.
