Second Half Comeback Leads 905 to First Win of the Season

Raptors 905 (1-0), the NBA G League affiliate of the Toronto Raptors, defeated the Capital City Go-Go (0-1) 110-107 in a thrilling season opener Saturday evening. Jeff Dowtin Jr. led the 905 with a game-high 28 points, adding three rebounds, six assists, and a steal in the victory. The Go-Go were paced by Vernon Casey who put up a team-high 21-point, 10-rebound performance.


Capital City came out strong in the first quarter outscoring the 905 30-20 in the opening frame. The Go-Go showed no signs of slowing down in the second they extended the lead to 24 points before a 905 comeback brought the game within 15 to close the first half.

The 905 came out of the break strong, going on a 9-0 run and finding their rhythm as they outscored the home team 30-22 going into the final frame. Down seven, the 905 continued to build off their momentum as they opened the final quarter on a 13-2 run bringing the ball game within two. The two teams continued to trade baskets in the fourth before the 905 were able to take a two-point lead at the hands of Saben Lee (20 points, five rebounds, and four steals). Back-to-back free throws help the 905- and first-year head coach Eric Khoury seal the victory.

The 905 saw complementary scoring from Reggie Perry who put up his first double-double of the season with 23 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, and a steal in the matchup, while the Go-Go’s Devon Dotson came away with eight points, seven rebounds, 11 assists, and two steals in the loss.

The two teams meet again to complete their back-to-back Sunday afternoon, tip-off scheduled for 3:00 pm.
