Vipers Acquire Returning Player Rights to Louis King

EDINBURG, Texas – The Rio Grande Valley Vipers announced today that the Westchester Knicks have agreed to trade the returning players rights to Louis King to the Vipers. In exchange, RGV has agreed to trade its first-round pick and the second-round pick (via Maine Celtics) in the 2023 NBA G League Draft. This trade is not subject to a physical.


Most recently King played in the NBA 2k23 Summer League with the Phoenix Suns. The 23-year-old appeared in five games in which he averaged 13.4 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists.

King (6-7, 205lbs.) spent the 2021-22 season with the Stockton Kings, Knicks and Sacramento Kings. During his time at Stockton he appeared in six games averaging 12.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.2 steals. With the Knicks he played in 14 games, started in 13, and averaged 18.6 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 2.1 steals in 34.3 minutes. While playing with Sacramento he averaged 4.5 points, 1.2 rebounds and 10.4 minutes in 10 games. In the summer of 2021 King played in seven games with Sacramento averaging 14.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.7 steals.

During the 2020-21 campaign King played for the Knicks averaging 13.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.5 steals. He also saw playing time with Sacramento. During his tenure with Sacramento he averaged 7.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.2 steals.

Prior to that, he kickstarted his G League career during the 2019-20 season with the Grand Rapids Drive. The Small Forward averaged 15.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.3 steals. That same season he made his debut in the NBA with the Detroit Pistons and appeared in 10 games.

Before declaring for the 2019 NBA Draft, King played one year at the collegiate level with the Oregon Ducks from 2018-19. With Oregon he played in 31 games and averaged 13.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists.
