Toronto Arrows Announce Return of Canadian International Scrum-Half Braude

October 25, 2022 – Major League Rugby (MLR)Toronto Arrows News Release

TORONTO, ON – The Toronto Arrows are pleased to announce that scrum-half Ross Braude has re-signed with the club for the 2023 Major League Rugby season.

Braude, 22, is returning to the Arrows for a third campaign after featuring in 21 matches (20 starts) for the club since debuting in 2021.

“I’m looking forward to representing the Arrows once again,” said Braude. “My wish for this organization is that we perform to our potential.”

The five-foot-six, 185-pound halfback has been a fixture for the Arrows since his breakout season as a 21-year-old, producing 540 carry metres on 70 carries, 140 kicks in play, 91 tackles, 34 tackle breaks, six linebreaks, four tries and two breakdown steals over his first two years with the club.

The South African-born Canadian international, who is eligible to play for Canada through his Montreal-born father, has collected 10 caps for his adopted nation since making his international debut against Wales in July 2021. Braude previously represented South Africa’s under-18 sevens team before joining the Arrows and opting for Canada as his test future.

Braude joined the Arrows prior to the start of the 2021 MLR season from then-Super Rugby side Bulls, where he helped lead the Pretorian club’s age-grade sides to under-19 and under-21 championships in 2019 and 2020, respectively.

As a student in South Africa, Braude captained the prestigious Grey College 1st XV and twice represented Free State in the iconic Craven Week schoolboys tournament.

“Ross has come in as a young player and really taken the reins at scrum-half,” said Mark Winokur, Toronto Arrows Chief Operating Officer and General Manager. “He has all the right qualities and will drive us towards our goal of success, we are confident of that.”

The club will be making additional signing announcements in the coming weeks as 2023 season preparations continue to build.

The window to place a deposit to secure 2023 season memberships for the lowest possible price is now open. Earlybird pricing packages for the club’s home matches at York Lions Stadium start at just $70 for a limited time only.
