Stars Acquire Returning Player Rights to Tyler Cook and Chudier Bile

SALT LAKE CITY – The Salt Lake City Stars, the official NBA G League affiliate of the Utah Jazz, have acquired the returning player rights to forwards Tyler Cook and Chudier Bile from the Greensboro Swarm in exchange for the returning player rights to guard Carsen Edwards and forward Yoeli Childs.


Bile (6-7, 195, Georgetown) appeared in 16 games for the Swarm last season, averaging 5.6 points and 2.4 rebounds in 12 minutes per game. The Denver, Colo., native attended Northwestern State University during his junior year, appearing in 28 games (23 starts), while averaging 14.3 points, 7.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.5 blocks in 24.3 minutes per contest.

Bile transferred to Georgetown University for his senior season where he saw action in 25 games (14 starts). Bile pulled down averages of 10.2 points, five rebounds, and one steal in 23.4 minutes a night.

Cook (6-8, 255, Iowa) has logged minutes in 65 NBA games (three starts) during his career, splitting time between the Cleveland Cavaliers, Denver Nuggets, Detroit Pistons, Brooklyn Nets, and Chicago Bulls. Cook owns career NBA averages of 3.8 points on 60.5 percent shooting from the field and 2.5 rebounds per game. Cook logged minutes in one playoff game during the 2019-20 postseason as a member of the Denver Nuggets.

The St. Louis, Mo., native has appeared in 54 NBA G League games since the 2019-20 season as a member of the Cleveland Charge, Oklahoma City Blue, Iowa Wolves, and Windy City Bulls. Cook holds career G League averages of 15.4 points on 61.8 percent shooting from the floor, 6.9 rebounds, and 1.9 assists.

The 25-year-old played three seasons at the University of Iowa where he saw the floor in 93 games (92 starts), tallying collegiate career averages of 14.1 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in 28 minutes per game. Cook was named to the All-Big Ten Freshman Team in 2017 and to the All-Big Ten Second Team in 2019.

Edwards appeared in 31 games (30 starts) for the Stars last season, while Childs saw action in 23 games (14 starts) for Salt Lake City in 2021-22.
