Sky Overseas Updates: Rundown No. 2

CHICAGO – Five Chicago Sky players are currently taking their talents overseas with their respective teams this off-season. Below are the listed players, their teams and country.

Dana Evans – Besiktas JK Istanbul (Turkey)


Azurá Stevens – Galatasaray M.P. Istanbul (Turkey)

Rebekah Gardner – Spar CityLift Girona (Spain)

Julie Allemand – LDLC Lyon ASVEL Féminin (France)

Ruthy Hebard – Atomerőmű KSC Szekszárd (Hungary)

Earlier last week, Rebekah Gardner and Spar CityLift Girona recorded a three-game winning streak against Ensino Lugo, Villenueve and Innova-TSN Leganés after losing to Villenueve on October 12th, 57-69. The loss was Girona’s first defeat of the season. Over those three games, Gardner averaged 12 points, four rebounds and two assists over 24 minutes of play. Girona continues Spanish League play on October 30 against Lointek Gernika Bizkaia.

Ruthy Hebard and Atomerőmű KSC Szekszárd continued Hungarian league play, splitting two games 1-1 – a loss against Miskolc then a win against FCSM Casta – after a four-game winning streak. Over those two games, Hebard averaged 13 points, seven rebounds in 25 minutes. She tied her season-high 16 points against FCM Casta. Szekszárd now holds a 5-2 record with two more games left in the month of October against USK Praha and PINKK-Pecsi.

Dana Evans continues to dominate with her play overseas with Besiktas, averaging 11.5 points in a team-high 36.5 minutes. Besiktas, searching for its first win of the season, dropped its past two games against Nesibe Aydin (45-88) and against teammate Azurá Stevens and Galatasaray (58-72). Besiktas will play one more game this month on October 29th against Çankaya Üniversitesi.

Stevens joined the undefeated 3-0 Galatasaray, recording 12 points and a team-high 13 in 35 minutes against Evans and Besiktas on October 22. Galatasaray continues Turkish League play on October 30th against Hatay Büyüksehir.

Julie Allemand and LDLC Lyon ASVEL Féminin will begin French league play against Villenueve on October 30th.

*Courtney Vandersloot will not be traveling overseas (Euroleasing Sopron Basket – Hungary) for the foreseeable future. Emma Meesseman is tending to an injury from the FIBA World Cup and is not with the team as of now (Fenerbahçe Spor Kulübü – Istanbul). There are no further updates from the Chicago Sky at this time.
