Off-Season Rundown Vol. 1

Uncasville, CT – Joyner Holmes and Dinamo Sassari (Italy) tipped off off-season play for the Sun on Sunday, October 2 in a win over Brescia in the opening game of the Italian League regular season, 70-58. Holmes tallied seven points, three rebounds, two steals and one block in the victory. On Wednesday, Holmes and Sassari defeated Kortrijk (Belgium), 96-51, in a EuroCup Qualification match. Holmes put up 17 points, seven rebounds, five assists and one steal in the dominating win. To close out the week on Saturday, Sassari defeated Lucca, 74-57. Holmes led her squad with 17 points, eight rebounds, three assists and one steal.

Nia Clouden made her overseas debut on Sunday, October 9 with Lublin (Poland). Clouden and Lublin defeated Polish League opponent, Basket 25 Bydgoszcz, 72-68. Clouden tallied 14 points, one rebound and two assists in her first appearance with the team.

Sun players are back in off-season action beginning with Holmes and Sassari on Wednesday, October 12 as they take on Kortrijk in EuroCup play at 1:00PM EST. Alyssa Thomas, Brionna Jones and USK Praha play Czech League opponent, Ostrava, on Friday, October 14 at 11:00AM EST. On Saturday, October 15, Clouden and Lublin face off against Gorzow in a Polish League match at 2:00PM EST. To close out the week on Sunday, October 16, Jonquel Jones and CBK Mersin play Turkish league opponent, Botas, at 9:00AM EST; and Holmes and Sassari face Venezia at 12:00PM EST in an Italian League matchup.
