Connecticut Sun Sponsors Buses for Fans to Attend the WNBA Finals Game Three
September 15, 2022 – Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) – Connecticut Sun News Release
Uncasville, CT – Today, the Connecticut Sun (0-2) take on the Las Vegas Aces (2-0) in Game 3 of the 2022 WNBA Finals, presented by YouTubeTV. In order to make the game more accessible to members of the Connecticut community, the Connecticut Sun players and coaches came together to sponsor three buses.
The bus sponsorship was organized through Angel of Edgewood, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that serves as a resource of food security to the Greater Hartford community, regardless of their circumstances.
“I am beyond overjoyed and my heart is full from what CT Sun has done for our underserved and overlooked members of the Greater Hartford community,” remarked Jendayi Scott-Miller, Founding Executive Director of Angel of Edgewood, Inc. “To be able to bring them to a premiere event and provide transportation is something that many of them may never get the opportunity to experience again. As the Angel of Edgewood, I work hard to bring our families the very best, because they deserve it. And to hear [and see their excitement, joy and gratitude] brings tears to my eyes because the way I see it is, the Angel of Edgewood and Connecticut Sun just saved another life. They could be in the streets tonight, but instead they’re at the 2022 WNBA Finals!!!”
The three buses will be bringing 156 community members from The Wilson-Gray YMCA in Hartford to Mohegan Sun Arena, and each community member will receive a ticket to the game and a Connecticut Sun t-shirt.
“We are so honored to be able to provide access to people that usually can’t experience events like a Connecticut Sun game. To see and hear their excitement makes giving opportunities like this truly meaningful, and I am extremely proud of our players and coaching staff for stepping up for their community in this way.” – Morgan Tuck, Connecticut Sun Director of Franchise Development
