Charge Select Four Players in 2022 NBA G League Draft

CLEVELAND – The Cleveland Charge of the NBA G League selected four players in today’s 2022 NBA G League Draft. With the #1 overall pick in the draft, the Charge selected G Sam Merrill.
Merrill (6-4, 197, Utah State) spent time in training camp this preseason with the Sacramento Kings. Originally a second round draft choice of the New Orleans Pelicans in 2020, Merrill has played in 36 career NBA games over the last two seasons, including 30 games with the Milwaukee Bucks during the 2020-21 season where he won an NBA Championship.
The Charge also took G/F Rashad Vaughn with the 1st pick in the second round. Vaughn (6-6, 202, UNLV) is an NBA veteran who has played in 138 career games with Milwaukee, Orlando, and Brooklyn. He also has 58 games of NBA G League experience, including four games on flex assignment with the Charge during the 2015-16 season.
Cleveland then chose G Remy Martin with the 11th pick in the second round, with a pick acquired in a previous trade. Martin (6-0, 175, Kansas) finished his senior season at Kansas in 2022, playing in 30 games and averaging 8.6 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in 21.1 minutes per game for the Jayhawks on their NCAA championship team.
The team’s final draft choice was the 1st pick in the third round, F J.J. Moore. Moore (6-6, 215, Rutgers) has 141 games of NBA G League experience over four seasons, two each with Long Island and Westchester.
The Charge will announce their entire 2022 training camp roster in advance of Tuesday’s first practice at Cleveland Clinic Courts.
