Austin Spurs Announce Additions to Coaching and Basketball Operations Staff

AUSTIN – The Austin Spurs today announced four additions to their coaching and basketball operations staff. Gilbert Abraham and Dennis Cutts have been added as assistant coaches, with Josh Larson and Brendan Sabean being promoted to basketball operations manager and assistant general manager, respectively.
Abraham joins the team after spending the last nine years as a director with PGC Basketball, which is responsible for over 110 camps across North America in the summer for players from fourth grade to college. Gilbert also founded Akin Athletics and has trained several professional players including Raymond Felton and Marvin Williams.
Cutts comes to Austin with nearly 30 years of coaching experience in the college ranks, including five seasons as the head coach for UC Riverside. Cutts spent the last four seasons in the G League with the Wisconsin Herd as an assistant coach.
Larson’s promotion to basketball operations manager comes after three seasons with the team as basketball operations quality assurance assistant.
Sabean earned the promotion to assistant general manager after nearly four years with Austin as player development/programs and basketball ops manager. Before coming to Austin, Sabean worked with the Grand Canyon University men’s basketball team for three seasons.
The Austin Spurs kick off the 2022-23 season, presented by SWBC, on Friday, Nov. 4 with the first of back-to-back Showcase Cup games against the Texas Legends. Tipoff at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park is set for 7 p.m., with tickets available now at AustinSpurs.com.
