Jordan Baker Named All-CEBL Second Team

September 7, 2022 – Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL)Edmonton Stingers News Release

EDMONTON, AB – Edmonton Stingers forward Jordan Baker has been named to the All-CEBL Second Team and CEBL All-Canadian Team. The selection is Baker’s fourth straight All-CEBL team, being awarded Second Team in 2019 and First Team in 2020 and 2021, winning Canadian Player of the Year in the former and runner up in the latter. It is also Baker’s second straight CEBL All-Canadian selection since the Canadian-only all-star team’s inception in 2021.

“It’s a special honour considering the growth of the CEBL in both Canadian and international talent,” said Baker, who averaged 11.3 points and a league-best 9.5 rebounds per game this past season. Baker also led the team in assists per game (4.7) and steals per game (1.7). “All the credit goes to my teammates who, despite an up-and-down season, played hard and represented Edmonton as true professionals from start to finish.”

The Stingers finished 10-10 in the regular season, falling one game shy of a home court advantage in the playoffs. They took their postseason on the road, where they fell to the Saskatchewan Rattlers 94-91 to cut their threepeat dreams short. Baker notched 9 points and 11 rebounds in the defeat. All in all Baker tallied 7 double-doubles in 20 games played, with a season best 18 points on July 6th against Niagara and 17 rebounds against Montreal on June 20th

“Baker’s effort, production, and leadership remained consistent even though we were inconsistent as a team this year. Once again he led the league in rebounding,” said head coach and general manager Jermaine Small. Baker also led the league in rebounding in 2019 and 2020. “Summer in, summer out, Baker proves that he’s the most dependable Canadian in the league since its inception.”
