Lakeland Magic and Mosaic Announce Hoops for Hunger Program Renewed

Lakeland, FL – The Lakeland Magic and The Mosaic Company announced that they have partnered for the fifth consecutive year on Hoops for Hunger, a program that addresses food insecurity among children throughout Central Florida.


For every three-point shot made by a Lakeland Magic player, Mosaic donated $200, bringing the grand total for the 2021-2022 season to $55,400.

“This partnership directly aligns with one of our most important business objectives: making a positive difference in the communities where we live and work,” said Sarah Fedorchuk, Vice President, Government and Public Relations – North America. “Ending hunger requires teamwork and we are proud to work with the Lakeland Magic and local food partners to ensure that essential food reaches the tables of those in need.”

Hoops for Hunger supports KidsPACK and One More Child, local non-profits that provide meals to local children. Since the start of the partnership between The Lakeland Magic and Mosaic in 2018, a total of $145,500 has been donated to help feed the Central Florida community.

“Fighting local hunger is one of the Lakeland Magic’s main Community Pillars and we are grateful to The Mosaic Company on their continued support of such an important local cause,” said Hans Steinbrenner, President of the Lakeland Magic. “We are proud to renew Hoops for Hunger with Mosaic and expand upon the program. Our Hoops for Hunger Night is sure to be very special, and we can’t wait to celebrate the program with our community on March 21st. We continue to see it’s tremendous impact and we are focused on continuing to fight food insecurity in Central Florida.”

The Mosaic Company and The Lakeland Magic plan to host a special Hoops for Hunger Night at the RP Funding Center on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 in celebration of the positive impact that the program has had on the Central Florida community. Lakeland Magic players will wear a special themed jersey in recognition when they take on the Long Island Nets. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a free replica of the special themed jersey.

Opening Night for the 2022-23 Lakeland Magic season happens on Friday, Nov. 11 followed by Military Appreciation Night on Saturday, Nov. 12 at the RP Funding Center. To see the Magic’s complete season and promotional schedule, visit: lakelandmagic.com/promotions.
