Sky Overseas Updates: Rundown No. 1

CHICAGO – Seven Chicago Sky players are taking their talents overseas with their respective teams this off-season. Below are the listed players and their teams and country.
Dana Evans – Besiktas JK Istanbul (Turkey)
Azurá Stevens – Galatasaray M.P. Istanbul (Turkey)
Emma Meesseman – Fenerbahçe Spor Kulübü Istanbul (Turkey)
Courtney Vandersloot – Euroleasing Sopron Basket (Hungary)
Rebekah Gardner – Spar CityLift Girona (Spain)
Julie Allemand – LDLC Lyon ASVEL Féminin (France)
Ruthy Hebard – Atomerőmű KSC Szekszárd (Hungary)
Earlier this week, Rebekah Garder and Spar CityLift Girona defeated Valencia Basket, 70-65, in the 2022 LF Endesa Super Cup held in Mendizorroza (Vitoria). This was Girona’s third Super Cup title. Gardner recorded 13 points, a perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line, one blocked shot, one steal in 31 minutes of play. Gardner was also named Super Cup MVP. Girona plays Villenueve on October 12 for a qualifying round in EuroLeague. They will then continue in the Spanish league against Ensino Lugo on October 15th.
Ruthy Hebard and Atomerőmű KSC Szekszárd continued Hungarian league play, where they currently stand at 4-1. After falling 66-71 to Ujbuda BEAC in its league opener, Szekszárd went on a four-game winning streak. In those five games, Hebard averaged 11.2 points on 56.8% field goal shooting, 7.0 rebounds in 22.6 minutes. She had a season-high 16 points in 26 minutes in a September 28 win against Cegledi.
Dana Evans dominated her first Turkish league game with Besiktas on October 9 with a loss against Kayseri, 69-71.. Evans tallied a game-high 28 points, seven assists and one steal in 39 minutes of play. The second-highest leading scorer of the game tallied 20 points. Evans and Besiktas will play again on Sunday, October 16 against Nesibe Aydin.
Julie Allemand and LDLC Lyon ASVEL Féminin will begin French league play against Villenueve on October 30, while Courtney Vandersloot’s Sopron Basket are currently undefeated in the Hungarian league play at 6-0. Emma Meesseman’s Fenerbahçe Spor Kulübü Istanbul recently kicked off Turkish league play on October 9 with a 71-63 win against Mersin. Azurá Stevens’ Galatasaray M.P. Istanbul also kicked off Turkish league play on October 8 with a dominating 78-49 win against Antalya 07.
