Game Day: Racing vs. KC Current (7:30 p.m. ET, Lynn Family Stadium)

October 1, 2022 – National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL)Racing Louisville FC News Release

Racing Louisville FC hosts the Kansas City Current in its the regular-season finale at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Lynn Family Stadium.

Racing’s last match of the year comes with a lot at stake. For the home team, Louisville can secure ninth place with a win and an Orlando draw or loss at OL Reign in Seattle, with vital NWSL Draft positions on the line. And for the visitors from Kansas City, seed Nos. 1-5 in the NWSL playoffs are all available, with a Current win and certain results elsewhere possibly leading to KC landing the top seed.

Three players under 25 scored for Racing Louisville (4-9-8, 20 points) in its 3-1 win at Angel City on Sunday in Los Angeles, and two others under 25 assisted those goals. That youth has shined in Louisville’s two wins in the last three games/

Kansas City (10-5-6, 36 points) is in third place in the standings and already in position to host an opening-round playoff game after winning nine of 12 games this year decided by a one-goal difference. The Current has only lost once away from home, winning five other road games and drawing four.

This is the fourth meeting this year between Racing and KC and the second in the regular season. They drew in Louisville in the NWSL Challenge Cup opener, then Racing topped host Kansas City, 3-0, in the Challenge Cup group-stage rematch. KC returned the favor with a 1-0 home win in the regular-season matchup in May.

Saturday’s match will stream on Twitch.
