Dogs Fall Short in OT

The IceDogs twice came back from one goal deficits before falling in overtime to visiting Erie 4-3. On a night where First Responders were honoured, over 3,500 in attendance would be treated to a back and forth affair.


Down 1-0 after one, despite outshooting the Otters 11-8, Nolan Dann’s third with help from Aidan Castle got the home side even. The Otters push back resulted in another late middle period goal, making the score 2-1 after two, in a period where the visitors registered 12 of the 20 shots on goal.

Castle found the back of the net for the equalizer at 1:48 of the third, with assists going to Nolan Dann and Rodwin Dionicio. The IceDogs would take the lead less than two minutes later with Pasquale Zito hitting for his third from Brenden Sirizzotti and Nathan Ribau. Now it was Erie’s turn to even things at three at the seven minute mark. The Otters would get the edge 31-27 in shots through regulation.The game would be decided 2:35 into extra time as Erie would grab the extra point. The IceDogs now sport a 3-3-2 mark on the season.

The weekend will feature a western Ontario trip, with games Saturday night in Sarnia and Sunday afternoon in Windsor.
