Academy Roundup: Young Garys Close October with Strong Results

The Young Garys of the FC Cincinnati Academy wrapped up another month of play and kick off November with a jam-packed schedule starting this weekend. There were solid performances across the board and plenty of momentum to build on in the coming weeks.


Here is a look back on some of the highlights and results of the past month.

U13

The U13s rebounded from a difficult loss to St. Louis Scott Gallagher SC with a win against Vardar on Oct. 15, and have remained unbeaten since.

PJ Kontopos, Nathan Stover, and Bentley Tepe each scored in a 3-1 win over Vardar on Oct. 15 before playing to two straight draws and a win this past weekend, a 1-0 win against Indiana Fire Academy.

Oct. 8: L 0-7, St. Louis Scott Gallagher SC

Oct. 15: W 3-1, Vardar

Oct. 22: D 0-0, Michigan Wolves

Oct. 23: D 1-1, Beadling SC

Oct. 29: W 1-0, Indiana Fire Academy

U14

The U14s picked up their fourth win of the year against Beadling SC on Oct. 23 before closing out the month with a draw against Indiana Fire Academy.

At 4-3-1, the U14s sit seventh in the Mid-America Division and will square off against Lou Fusz Athletic in their opening match of November this Saturday.

Oct. 22: L 2-3, Michigan Wolves

Oct. 23: W 2-0, Beadling SC

Oct. 29: D 0-0, Indiana Fire Academy

U15

The U15s had a strong October winning all three of their MLS NEXT Flex matches this month. Bryan Martinez and Ezequiel Bautista scored two goals apiece in a 4-3 win over St. Louis City SC on Oct. 8.

This past weekend saw the U15s earn a win against Shattuck-St. Mary’s and a draw against Minnesota United FC.

Oct. 15: W 3-2, Vardar

Oct. 22: W 2-1, Michigan Jaguars

Oct. 29: W 3-2, Shattuck-St. Mary’s

Oct. 30: D 1-1, Minnesota United FC

U17

Jio Gabriel Mora scored in back-to-back matches for the Young Garys earlier this month as the U17s scored six goals in two matches against St. Louis City SC and Vardar.

Mora earned a brace in the 3-1 win against Vardar on Oct. 15 while Sam Weeter added a goal of his own. The Orange and Blue are in the top half of the Mid-America Division holding a 3-4-1 record.

Oct. 15: W 3-1, Vardar

Oct. 22: L 1-5, Michigan Jaguars

Oct. 29: L 0-1, Shattuck-St. Mary’s

Oct. 30: L 1-2, Minnesota United FC

U19

The U19s kept things rolling in October highlighted by a 6-1 win against the Michigan Wolves on Oct. 22. Ryder Mills scored a brace in the contest while four other Young Garys found the back of the net.

The U19s next match comes on Nov. 6 against Bavarian United SC.
