Fulton Leads MLR 2022 Collegiate Draft Round 2 Picks

To start off Round 2 of the 2022 MLR Collegiate Draft, Dallas Jackals select Kyle Fulton of University of Arizona.
As a Freshman at University of Arizona, Kyle made two starts with the First XVs including his collegiate debut during the side’s tour to Argentina. He was also named Mark Shively Award winner as the squad’s Freshman of the Year. He continued on to be named to the All Pac-12 1st Team as Arizona’s leading try scorer.
Kyle, from Marin County, California, attended and played football at Redwood High School in while playing six successful seasons with the Marin Highlanders.
Kyle graduated from University of Arizona with a degree in Nutrition with a Minor in Sports Nutrition.
“I started playing rugby because of a bet with a friend, if I played rugby he would play football. Glad that happened because I am still here today playing rugby,” said Kyle.
Round 2 Pick 7- Matias Caramuti
Dallas Jackals select Matias Caramuti of Thomas More University or the 20th overall pick in Round 2 Pick 7. Named Collegiate Rugby Shield’s Man of the Match, Matias, Fly Half/Center brings great skill to DFW.
From Rio Cuarto, Argentina, Matias started playing rugby at six years old with Uru Cure Rugby Club. He continued through his adolescence until his work paid off and he made the club’s First Team in 2019. “That was a dream come true and an unforgettable experience,” says Matias. Later in 2019, he traveled to Australia training with Merewether Carlton RC.
To continue his education and rugby career, Matias made the move to the States attending Thomas More University in Crestview Hills, KY to earn his Master’s in Business Administration. With the Saints side he has earned many honors including DII Scoring Leader, All-American, and Co-Captain. Matias also aided the squad in being names DII National Collegiate Rugby Champions where he was the top scorer.
Matis said, “One of the hardships of living in Argentina is the opportunity to continue your education and pursue rugby are limited. Here in the US, the opportunities are unlimited.”
Round 2 Pick 10 – Nolan Buckley
Selected Round 2 Pick 10 by the Dallas Jackals, Number 8 Nolan Buckley from University of Massachusetts Lowell.
From North Attleboro, Massachusetts, Nolan stands at 6’3″ and 205 lbs. He began playing rugby 2019 during his Sophomore year at UMass Lowell. Nolan and the squad have competed in three National Championship playoff runs in that time.
Building on his career, Nolan competed with MLR’s New England Free Jacks Independents in the NCR All-Star Tournament in Houston, TX. He also took part in the Inaugural Collegiate Rugby Shield match in Utah in July 2022.
Nolan comes from a tight knit family with two younger siblings, a sister entering highschool and a brother a year and a half younger. Nolan’s brother, CJ, is a Leukemia Survivor and has Down’s Syndrome. Nolan says, “he helps me be the kindest and strongest version of myself everyday.”
Round 2 Pick 11 – Mazvita Nyamrebvu
Mazvita Nyamrebvu, Center from Arkansas State, is selected by the Dallas Jackals in Round 2 Pick 11, 24th overall in the 2022 MLR Collegiate Draft.
Mazvita’s rugby career started in Mashonaland, Zimbabwe where he first picked up the ball at eight years old. He went on to play at the National Level representing his country through U16. He competed in the U18 Craven Week in South Africa and joined the First Team at Peterhouse Boys High School. He then moved to the States attending and playing at Arkansas State University.
He notes of the sacrifices he has made thus far to advance his rugby career. “I haven’t had the opportunity to see my family in over 3 years due to my journey of trying to become professional as well as the impact COVID-19,” says Mazvita.
