Summary
Jhonkensy Noel comes up clutch with a late-inning two-run double to help the Akron RubberDucks come from behind and beat the Bowie Baysox 4-3 on Saturday night at Canal Park.
Turning Point
After surrendering the lead in the sixth, the RubberDucks answered back in the eighth. Julian Escobedo opened the inning with a double before advancing to third on a groundout to first. After Angel Martinez was hit by a pitch to put runners on the corners, Jhonkensy Noel took advantage of the RBI opportunity by lining a double down the left field line to score Escobedo and Martinez and make it 4-3 Akron.
Mound Presence
Tanner Bibee got the start for Akron and was dominant. The righty allowed just three runs over six innings while punching out nine Baysox in his final start of 2022. Robert Broom followed with three scoreless innings while punching out two.
Duck Tales
The RubberDucks took the lead in the third. Escobedo started the inning off with a single before Jose Tena launched a two-run home run off the top of the Bud Light Lime Tiki Terrace to make it 2-1 Akron.
Notebook
Bibee struck out at least four in all 13 starts since being promoted to Akron on July 7…Akron has won 50 games when Tena bats first in the order…Game Time: 2:13…Attendance: 6,887.
