Kansas City Current Announces Championship Week Events

KANSAS CITY(Oct. 25, 2022) -The Kansas City area will turn teal this week as the region celebrates the Kansas City Current’s first-ever appearance in the National Women’s Soccer League Championship match. The week will culminate in the team’s watch party, presented by Boulevard Brewing Co. at Union Station’s Haverty Family Yards.


Fans can join in the celebration at one of many events across the area:

Tuesday, Oct. 25

4-6 p.m. – Teal Mobile at Hy-Vee (18101 W 119th St, Olathe, KS 66061)

Wednesday, Oct. 26

4-6 p.m. – Teal Mobile at Hy-Vee (5330 NW 64th St, Kansas City, MO 64151)

Thursday, Oct. 27

4-6 p.m. – Pet accessories for sale at Bar K

Friday, Oct. 28

Teal Friday – wear your Kansas City Current gear to support the team

11 a.m.-1 p.m. – Teal Mobile at Ruby Jean’s Juicery (3000 Troost Ave, Kansas City, MO 64109)

4:30-6:30 p.m. – Teal Mobile at Boulevard Brewing Co. (2534 Madison Ave, Kansas City, MO 64108)

Evening – Union Station, Downtown skyline and other area buildings lit teal

Saturday, Oct. 29

8:30-10:30 a.m. – Teal Mobile at Messenger Coffee (1624 Grand Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64108)

5:30 p.m. – Gates open for Watch Party, presented by Boulevard Brewing Co. at Union Station’s Haverty Family Yards

7:00 p.m. – NWSL Championship Match kicks off

Evening – Union Station, Downtown skyline lit teal

Fans of all ages are welcome to attend the watch party on Saturday. RSVPs are highly encouraged. Food and beverage will be available for purchase from local food trucks and bars set up with Boulevard Brewing Co. products. Fans can also visit the Teal Mobile to purchase Kansas City Current team gear.

Throughout the week, Kansas Citians are invited to visit Union Station to view signed team memorabilia, celebratory banners and the venue’s signature lit letter photo opportunity with the team’s playoff motto: Current Rising.

Kansas City’s historic match will be broadcast nationally in primetime on CBS. The Current has broken records in both playoff matches – in the quarterfinal against the Houston Dash, defender Kate Del Fava scored the latest goal ever scored in NWSL history, in any competition (Challenge Cup, Regular Season or Playoffs). In Sunday’s semifinal match against OL Reign, midfielder Alex Loera’s goal in the fourth minute of Sunday’s game is the fastest goal by a road team in NWSL playoff history.
