Yard Goats Win Third Consecutive Game

Hartford, CT- Julio Carreras had three hits, including an RBI single, helping the Hartford Yard Goats defeat the Reading Fightin Phils 4-3 on Thursday night at Dunkin’ Donuts Park in Hartford. Pitchers Will Ethridge, Tony Locey, Jared Biddy and Stephen Jones held the Fightins to just three runs and recorded 12 strikeouts as the Yard Goats won their third consecutive game. Biddy got a ground ball 1-2-3 double play with the bases loaded to end the eighth inning.


Reading scored the first two runs of the game in the second inning on a two-run double by Jack Conley. Yard Goats starter Will Ethridge settled down after that, and retired seven of the next eight batters and registered a Double-A high seven strikeouts in four innings.

The Yard Goats tied the game in the bottom of the second inning off Reading starter Josh Hendrickson. Brenton Doyle led off the inning with a single and scored on a triple by Daniel Montano to make it 2-1. Hartford tied the game on a throwing error on an attempt to get Tyler Hill who was stealing third base.

The Yard Goats took a 3-2 lead in the third inning. Isaac Collins led off the inning with a triple and scored on a single by Hunter Stovall, putting Hartford ahead by a run. The Rockies affiliate added a fourth run in the fourth inning on Julio Carreras RBI single, scoring Daneil Cope and it was 4-2 Yard Goats.

The Yard Goats and Fightin Phils play the fourth of a six-game series on Friday night at Dunkin’ Donuts Park. Noah Gotsis will start for the Yard Goats and Griff McGarry will start for Reading. The broadcast can be heard on AM 1410, FM 100.9 and the iheart radio app.
