Montreal, QC – The latest person to earn Player of the Week honors in the QMJHL is Val-d’Or Foreurs goaltender William Blackburn. In three games, the 19-year-old from Hebertville, Quebec went 3-0 with a 1.00 GAA and a save percentage of .974%, propelling the Foreurs to an early-season win streak.

On Monday afternoon at home, Blackburn made 28 stops, including 16 over the final 40 minutes, helping lead the Foreurs to a 3-1 victory over the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies. The victory ended a brief, two-game losing streak for Val-d’Or.

The club would make it back-to-back triumphs on Friday night. The third-year veteran offered up a career best 46-save performance in a 5-1 road win over the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada. Blackburn, who was named the game’s first star, held the Armada off the scoresheet for the first 57 minutes of play as the Armada pumped 31 shots on the busy netminder over the first two periods alone.

Back at home on Sunday afternoon, Blackburn and the Foreurs would make it three in a row with a 3-1 victory over the Rimouski Oceanic. On this occasion, Blackburn would be named second star of the contest after turning aside 24 shots. The club once again carried a shutout into the later stages of the third period as it continues to hold its own in the overall league standings.

Blackburn enters play this week with a 5-2-0-0 record on the season and a 2.29 GAA. His .935% save percentage ranks fifth league-wide. Blackburn was originally selected by the Foreurs in the third round at the 2019 QMJHL Draft.
