PORTLAND, Ore. – Timbers2 and Whitecaps 2 played to a 2-2 draw in regulation on Wednesday night at Providence Park. Selmir Miscic and Ian Shaul scored a first-half goal each for the Timbers with assists from Victor Griffith and Sawyer Jura.


With the match ending in a draw, the two teams went to a penalty kick shootout to determine who would earn an additional point. Portland prevailed with a 5-4 shootout win to earn two points from the match. Tega Ikoba, Diego Gutierrez, Justin Rasmussen, Dawson McCartney, and Carlos Vivas all converted their penalty kicks from the spot.

POR – Selmir Miscic (Victor Griffith), 25th minute: Selmir Miscic fired a right-footed shot from inside of the box to the top left corner of the goal. Miscic was assisted by Victor Griffith with a cross.

VAN – Gio (Simon Becher), 32nd minute: With an assist by Simon Becher, Gio shot a right-footed shot to the lower right corner of the goal.

POR – Ian Shaul (Sawyer Jura), 37th minute: Ian Shaul scored a header goal from the center of the box from a cross sent by Sawyer Jura.

VAN – Simon Becher, 90th minute: From a set piece play, Simon Becher drilled a shot with his right foot into the center of the goal.
