Tigers Fall on the Road to Hitmen 5-1

November 5, 2022 – Western Hockey League (WHL)Medicine Hat Tigers News Release

Calgary, AB – The 1st period started out on the right foot for the Medicine Hat Tigers but the Calgary Hitmen would go on to score five unanswered goals to give the Hitmen a 5-1 victory Friday night.

Pasha Bocharov (Escondido, CA) would open the scoring just 26 seconds into the game off a face-off win by Owen MacNeil (Calgary, AB), for Bocharov it would be his 4th of the season.

But the Hitmen would soon find a way to tie things up late on their 1st power play of the game as Ethan Moore scored off a rebound to bang in his 1st of the season, then just 43 seconds later Riley Fiddler-Schultz would cash in to give Calgary a 2-1 lead heading to the 2nd period.

Things would stay tight in the second period with the Tigers gaining momentum in the latter stages of the 2nd period but it would end up as a misfortune for the tabbies as London Hoilett took off on a turnover and fed Oliver Tulk to make it 3-1 Calgary heading to the third.

In the final stanza the Tigers would eventually kill off a 5 on 3 to perfection and on the end of the 5 on 4 portion of their infractions, Brenden Lee would move in a short handed breakaway but hit the post but he wasn’t done there, as the (Seattle, WA) product would have another chance to keep things close on the power play for the Tigers but again would ring iron once more.

Sean Tschigerl & Carter Yakemchuk would add late markers for the Hitmen and they’d come away with the 5-1 victory.

In the loss the Tigers despite the 2 goals against on the power play were 6/8 on the penalty kill and could score on their 6 chances with the man advantage.

The final shots read 35-25 Calgary, with Beckett Langkow (Vegreville, AB) making 30/35 saves on the night.

It’s a tight turn for the Tigers who look to get back in the win column as they welcome the Lethbridge Hurricanes to Co-op Place with puck drop set for 7:05 PM. Get your tickets now at tixx.ca.
