The Aftermath: Storm Shut Out By Force

FARGO, ND. – The Tri-City Storm was shut out by the Fargo Force by a final score of 4-0 Friday night at Scheels Arena. The loss marked the second time this season that Tri-City was held off of the scoreboard. Tri-City will travel to Young Arena for back-to-back road games next weekend against the Waterloo Black Hawks.
Cole Knuble scored the only goal of Friday’s 1st period to give Fargo a 1-0 lead in the matchup. Knuble’s goal was his seventh of the season, and was scored on a 5-on-3 powerplay. Joe Palodichuk and Bret Link each recorded an assist on the scoring play. Tri-City was outshot 12-6 in the 1st period, and the team trailed 1-0 entering the 2nd period.
An even-strength goal was netted by Cole Knuble less than one minute into Friday’s 2nd period to give the Force a two-goal lead. Knuble’s goal was the only scoring play of the 2nd period. Fargo outshot Tri-City 12-5 during the 2nd period. The Storm began the 3rd period trailing 2-0.
JP Turner scored his second goal of the season at 9:02 of Friday’s 3rd period to give Fargo a 3-0 lead in the game. The final goal of the game was netted by Anthony Menghini at 10:40 of the period. The goal was Menghini’s seventh of the season, and was scored shorthanded. Fargo outshot Tri-City 11-10 in the 3rd period, and 35-21 overall in the matchup.
Karlis Mezsargs recorded the loss in net for the Storm after making 31 saves on 35 shots. Matej Marinov posted a shutout by stopping all 21 of Tri-City’s shots in the game. Tri-City dropped to 5-6-0-0 in the loss.
The Storm will return home to the Viaero Center on November 18th and November 19th for back-to-back games against the Des Moines Buccaneers following four consecutive road games. The games against the Buccaneers will be the only two home games for the Storm at the Viaero Center in the month of November.
