Team Effort Leads to Sky Carp Win
September 2, 2022 – Midwest League (MWL) – Beloit Sky Carp News Release
BELOIT -A pair of newcomers played a big role in Beloit’s 5-2 victory over Quad Cities Friday night at ABC Supply Stadium.
As an outstanding crowd of 1,714 looked on, the Sky Carp received three hits from Brady Allen and a two-run homer from Harrison Spohn to lead the way to the victory.
Beloit trailed 2-0 heading into the bottom of the third when Spohn, making his first start at home for the team, cracked a two-run blast to tie the game.
Allen, another newbie this homestand, nailed an RBI triple to put the Sky Carp in front in the fourth, a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.
Starting pitcher Jake Walters went five innings and allowed just two runs (one earned) while striking out three.
The Sky Carp bullpen was outstanding, as Matt Given threw a pair of scoreless frames, and Jake Schrand followed that up with a pair of scoreless innings himself to record his first save of the season.
Beloit and Quad Cities will continue their six-game series Saturday night at 6:35 p.m. The first 1,000 fans through the gate will receive a Sky Carp Hawaiian shirt.
