Storm Set to Host Stars for Home Opener

KEARNEY, NE. – The Tri-City Storm is set to host the Lincoln Stars tonight at the Viaero Center in Kearney for the team’s annual Home Opener. Tickets to the rivalry matchup are still available and may be purchased online at www.TriCityStormHockey.com, or by calling the Viaero Center Box Office today during Box Office hours. Puck drop for tonight’s Home Opener at the Viaero Center is scheduled for 7:05pm CT.


Tonight’s Home Opener at the Viaero Center features a Rivalry 4-Pack ticket package presented by the Nebraska Lottery. The deal includes four tickets, four hot dogs, four sodas, and two Nebraska Lottery Scratch Off Tickets for $40.

Tri-City (3-2-0-0) returns to action tonight after dropping a 6-3 road decision last night to the Stars. Sebastian Törnqvist (2), and Cale Ashcroft scored the Storm’s goals in the loss. Goal scorers for Tri-City through the opening five games of the 2022-2023 regular season include Kieran Cebrian (3), Sebastian Törnqvist (3), Graham Gamache (2), Cale Ashcroft (2), Cameron O’Neill, Tanner Adams, Trevor Connelly, David Sacco, Nick Roukounakis, Brock James, and Dane Dowiak. The Storm completed the 2021-2022 regular season with a home-ice record of 27-3-0-1, which is the best recording during a single season in the organization’s twenty-two-year history. Tri-City will play back-to-back road games next weekend against the Fargo Force and Sioux City Musketeers following tonight’s Home Opener at the Viaero Center.

Lincoln (4-1-0-0) won a regular season game in regulation time against Tri-City for the first time in 629 days in last night’s 6-3 home victory. The Stars’ only win during the regular season against the Storm last year was in overtime on April 3rd, 2022. Lincoln will attempt to snap a winless streak in regular season play at the Viaero Center in tonight’s road matchup against the Storm. The Stars’ last regular season victory over the Storm in Kearney came in a 3-1 victory on December 31st, 2020. Lincoln has lost nine consecutive games played at the Viaero Center, and has not defeated the Storm in Kearney in the regular season in 653 days. Scoring leaders for Lincoln entering tonight’s road game include Mason Marcellus (3), Brennan Ali (3), Keaton Peters (3), Tanner Ludtke (2), Klavs Veinbergs (2), and Daniel Sambuco (2).

Tonight’s game is set to begin at 7:05pm CT and will be streamed on FloSports, and Storm Radio.
