Steel to Celebrate Pawnee Harvest Festival on Parks and Rec Night this Saturday
October 19, 2022 – United States Hockey League (USHL) – Chicago Steel News Release
GENEVA, ILLINOIS – The Chicago Steel may not be able to bring back Li’l Sebastian for Saturday’s Parks and Rec Night, but they will bring an abundance family fun and entertainment during the team’s celebration of the Pawnee Harvest Festival. Saturday’s game, which includes the special Slumberland Family Pack offer for fans, is part of a busy weekend for humans and canines alike at Fox Valley Ice Arena.
After a stretch of three consecutive road games, the Chicago Steel (5-3-0-0; 10 pts.) return to home ice with a pair of games against the Youngstown Phantoms (1-3-0-0; 2 pts.) at Fox Valley Ice Arena on Friday, Oct. 21 and Saturday, Oct. 22, both scheduled for a 7:05 pm CT puck drop.
Steel fans can bring their well-behaved dogs to Friday night’s Pucks and Pups Night presented by PetSuites featuring a dog costume contest during intermission. Fans are encouraged to dress their four-legged companions for chance to win prizes from PetSuites.
Sections 204 and 205 will be reserved for fans with dogs and are available for purchase at ChicagoSteelHockeyTeam.com. Those bringing dogs should enter through Door 11 in the northwest corner of Fox Valley Ice Arena. Please visit the Pucks and Pups Frequently Asked Questions page for more detail and to fill out a release in advance of the game. In-game promotions will include a ‘Treat Shuffle’ and a ‘Best Trick’ contest as well as other dog-related fun.
Fans of the popular TV show Parks and Rec will appreciate the Pawnee Harvest Festival celebration during Parks and Rec Night on Saturday. Although we can’t promise fans that they will get all of the bacon that Ron Swanson usually eats, there will be chances to show off your knowledge of the series with a quote match game, Parks and Rec trivia and even ‘Pin the Tail on Li’l Sebastian’ (RIP).
Saturday marks the return of a fan-favorite ticket package, the Slumberland Family Pack, a deal with four tickets, four hot dogs, four sodas/waters, four chips and four chuck-a-pucks for just $50. The package can be purchased in amounts up to eight and can be purchased online and selecting ‘Slumberland Family Pack 1 – Oct. 22’ from the right side of the menu page.
On the ice, Chicago enters the weekend matchups after splitting a two-game set against Team USA (U17) with an 8-3 win on Oct. 14 and a 5-4 loss on Oct. 15 at USA Hockey Arena in Michigan.
Steel forward Jayden Perron was named USHL Forward of the Week as he catapulted to the top of the USHL points list with five points (2G, 3A) over the games against Team USA. The University of North Dakota commit scored twice in the Friday night win and added a trio of helpers in the Saturday night showdown, giving him 13 points (2G, 11A) through his first eight games of the season. Dating back to the 2021-2022 regular season campaign, the Winnipeg, Manitoba, native has reached the score sheet in 11 consecutive outings.
Youngstown enters the weekend set with the least amount of games played in the USHL, going 1-3-0-0 in four outings to start the season after finishing the preseason with a pair of road wins over the Steel.
The Phantoms offense has been limited to an average of 2.50 goals per game but is led by Edmonton Oilers prospect and team captain Shane Lachance. The 6-foot-5, 218-pound forward has totaled three goals and two helpers over his first four games of the year, bringing a three-game point streak into the Friday night matchup.
Chicago and Youngstown will face off a total of eight times during the 2022-2023 regular season.
After this weekend, Chicago takes to the road for one game against the Green Bay Gamblers on Saturday, October 29 with a 3:05 pm CT puck drop at Resch Center in Wisconsin.
