The Calgary Stampeders attempt to complete a sweep of the four-game season Battle of Alberta series with the Elks as they travel to Edmonton for the annual Labour Day rematch.
Calgary has won the three previous 2022 regular-season meetings with Edmonton by a combined score of 105-47 including a 26-18 victory in Monday’s Labour Day Classic at McMahon Stadium and a 49-6 decision at Commonwealth Stadium in Week 5. The Stamps last swept a four-game season series in 2012 when they posted a 4-0 mark against Edmonton.
The Red and White (7-4) enter Week 14 action in third place in the West Division while Edmonton (3-9) is in fifth spot. The Stamps have alternated victories and losses in the past six contests are trying to win back-to-back contests for the first time since starting the season 4-0. The Elks have lost their two most recent outings.
The Stampeders are bidding to win both ends of the Labour Day week series – which has been played every season but one since 1989 – for the 12th time. In the 31 previous home-and-homes between the provincial rivals, the Stampeders have swept 11 times, Edmonton has five sweeps and the meetings have been split on 15 occasions.
The Stamps are 4-2 on the road so far this season and 3-4 against the West. Edmonton is 0-5 at home and 0-8 against divisional opponents.
The Stamps return home on Saturday, Sept. 17 for a game against the BC Lions. Kickoff at McMahon Stadium is 5 p.m. MDT.
