Seven Petes Players on Their Way to NHL Training Camps

(Peterborough, ON) – The Peterborough Petes announced today that seven rostered players will be attending NHL training Camps starting Monday, September 12th 2022. This includes six NHL drafted players and one undrafted invitee.


When asked about the players attending camps, Petes General Manager, Michael Oke, said this: “I’m very excited for the players attending NHL camps, the experience that they bring back will be very valuable to the Petes.”

Player Details:

Jon-Randall Avon C – Philadelphia Flyers (Signed as UFA in 2021)

After going undrafted in the 2021 NHL entry draft, J.R. Avon signed an Entry-Level Contract with the Philadelphia Flyers after attending the team’s 2021 training camp on an Amateur Try-Out.

Artem Guryev D – San Jose Sharks (2021, RD 5: 135)

Originally a second round pick for the Petes in the 2019 OHL Priority Selection, Artem Guryev was selected in the fifth round, 135th overall, by the San Jose Sharks in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.

Connor Lockhart RW – Vancouver Canucks (2021, RD 6: 178)

Acquired in a trade with the Erie Otters in August, Connor Lockhart was picked in the sixth round, 178th overall, by the Vancouver Canucks in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.

Samuel Mayer D – San Jose Sharks (Amateur Try-Out)

After being selected as the Petes Defenceman of the Year in 2021-22, Samuel Mayer will attend San Jose Sharks Camp on an Amateur Try-Out.

Tucker Robertson RW – Seattle Kraken (2022, RD 4: 123)

After a breakout year in 2021-22 in which he was second on the Petes in points with 81, Tucker Robertson was selected in the fourth round, 123rd overall, by the Seattle Kraken.

Chase Stillman RW – New Jersey Devils (2021, RD 1: 29)

Acquired in a trade with the Sudbury Wolves at last year’s trade deadline, Peterborough Native, Chase Stillman, was drafted in the first round, 29th overall, by the New Jersey Devils in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. Stillman signed an Entry-Level Contract with the Devils in August, 2021.

Brian Zanetti D – Philadelphia Flyers (2021, RD 4: 110)

Originally selected by the Petes in the first round of the 2021 CHL Import Draft, Brian Zanetti was selected by the Philadelphia Flyers in the fourth round, 110th overall, of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.

The Petes are proud to partner with community rinks and minor hockey associations to bring Petes hockey to local communities in Peterborough and the surrounding areas. The Petes will host the Kingston Frontenacs at the Cobourg Community Centre on Friday, September 23. Proceeds from ticket sales and other fundraising initiatives will go towards local minor hockey initiatives.
