San Antonio FC Keeper Jordan Farr Named USL Championship September Player of the Month

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio FC goalkeeper Jordan Farr has been named the USL Championship Player of the Month for September, the league announced today. This is Farr’s second Player of the Month award, behind four shutouts with 12 saves and just one goal allowed in the stretch.
“Top players consistently perform and execute, game after game, and Jordan has done that. It’s no surprise for his repeated earned recognition,” said SAFC Head Coach Alen Marcina.
September saw Farr and SAFC go 4-0-1 with just one combined goal allowed, despite facing four teams currently set to join San Antonio in the playoffs. Two of the shutouts came against San Diego Loyal SC and Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC, currently the top two teams in goals scored in the Western Conference.
“Top players consistently perform irrespective of the level of the challenge or even the adversity faced,” added Marcina. “We expect that he continues to come up big when called upon and we are confident he will.”
During the month, Farr posted 12 saves including a crucial penalty saved against San Diego on September 10. The four wins each saw SAFC win 1-0, with Farr and the defense crucial to the strong month.
“It’s clear Jordan has performed on the field, but his growth as a leader both on and off the field has been substantial,” said Marcina. “Jordan is the first to acknowledge and state to his teammates that all successes and recognition are due to the collective commitment.”
Farr previously earned the monthly honor for April, then the second-ever to do so for San Antonio FC. Farr becomes the first two-time winner in club history, and the only player in the league to earn the honors twice this season.
Farr and SAFC close out the regular season Saturday, hosting Orange County SC in the final match before playoffs. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT from Toyota Field. SAFC will then be set to host the Western Conference Semifinal on Friday, October 28 at 7:30 p.m. CT.
