RoughRiders Hire Chris Lonke

Cedar Rapids, Iowa – The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders announced hiring Chris Lonke as the new Director of Player Personnel.

Chris Lonke has more than six years of experience in junior hockey as an Assistant General Manager and over 20 years as a coach. He spent six years with the Minot Minotauros as an assistant general manager. He also spent 20 years as a coach in Minnesota Hockey programs, including three state tournament qualifiers: 2003 Simley Spartans, 2014, and 2015 with the New Prague Trojans.


“We are pleased to welcome Chris to the RoughRiders Staff,” RoughRiders Head Coach and President Mark Carlson said. “His experience in both the administrative and coaching sides of hockey and his understanding of what it takes to connect with people, a trait which is essential for this role, he is a good fit for our program.”

Additionally, Lonke was the Tournament Director of the CCM NIT in Plymouth, MN, holding that position since 2017. “I would like to thank President and General Manager Mark Carlson for bringing me into the Roughrider family,” Lonke stated, “I look forward to the opportunity and challenge to help build a consistent championship-level roster on and off ice in Cedar Rapids,”

Lonke graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Superior and earned his Master’s Degree from the University of St. Thomas. Currently, he resides in Rosemount, MN, with his wife, Tonya, and they have two children, a daughter, Taylor (19), and a son, Jack (13).
