POSTGAME QUOTES: New England Revolution II 2, Orlando City B 0

New England Revolution II Head Coach Clint Peay

On his assessment of the match:

Peay: “Yeah, that was a good effort. Played some good soccer out there and created a lot of good chances. And, you know, it’s a young team Orlando has, so we understand that, but they’re talented. It was just good to kind of see us sort of dictate the tempo of the game.”

On Malcolm Fry’s first professional goal:

Peay: “Yeah, [Malcolm Fry] was dangerous, aggressive when he got the ball, looking to go at people, create opportunities for others. He had hard running to get that goal and that was some of the things that we were talking about in the week, and he did well.”

On Malcolm Fry’s performance:

Peay: “Yeah, I think he battled hard, and he provided a good service for us. And, you know, I thought he was better defensively overall, and was a good leader on the field for us.”

On how the team plans to build upon their momentum:

Peay: “It’s a good feeling, so hopefully that sort of remains on the guys as we enter the next game, but we know New York City’s a very good team and hard to play against at home, so I think it’s just about habits and standards and trying to keep that up and bring that into the next week.”

New England Revolution Academy Forward Malcolm Fry

On how it felt to score his first professional goal:

Fry: “It feels like 17 years in the making. I’ve been thinking about that moment. I was in traffic on the way here and I was getting nervous, and I was thinking how amazing it would be to get that first goal. And I rolled my ankle kind of. I paid the price on it, but it was all worth it and made every bad moment up to now worth it. It was amazing.”

On making first professional start:

Fry: “It was amazing. I was just trying to take in everything. I was just looking around. All the boys were so nice when I came today. They gave me everything I needed. I just can’t thank the group enough. It was an amazing night.”

On Max Weinstein’s performance:

Fry: “What a guy. I listened to the interview, and the way Yuta [Nomura] talked about him is exactly how I would describe [Max Weinstein].” Model professional at 18 years old. Everyone should look up to him.”

On the mindset going into the two remaining games this season:

Fry: “I think that, for example, in that game that we won against the [Chicago] Fire, I think that we worked really hard, and we dug out a result, but it was hard. Not that today wasn’t hard, but we were doing it with a smile on our face. We were high fiving, having fun, and I think that’s the difference today and that we can definitely bring that into next game.”

Revolution II Defender Ítalo

*Translated from Portuguese

On the team’s performance and scoring his first professional goal:

Ítalo: “First, I’m happy for the victory. It was something we were looking for. We worked a lot this week to play a good game. I’m also happy to score the first goal with this team now and will work harder next week to repeat performances like this.”
