Red Bulls Host Eastern Conference Leaders Philadelphia Union on Saturday Night

HARRISON, N.J. -The New York Red Bulls (13-8-8, 47 pts.) begin a two-match homestand, starting with Eastern Conference leaders Philadelphia Union (16-4-9, 57 pts.) on Saturday, September 3 at Red Bull Arena. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET with coverage on MSG, MSG GO, and New York Red Bulls Radio in English and Spanish via TuneIn, the New York Red Bulls app and NewYorkRedBulls.com.


Coverage on MSG begins at 6:30 p.m. ET with the Red Bulls Pregame show. Steve Cangialosi will have the primary play-by-play responsibilities and will be alongside Shep Messing and Michelle Gingras.

New York Red Bulls Radio begins at 6 p.m. ET with Countdown to Kickoff, presented by Honda, hosted by Matt Harmon and Steve Jolley. Stefano Fusaro will carry the Spanish play-by-play responsibilities, beginning at 6:30 p.m. ET.

This will be the 34th overall regular season meeting between New York and Philadelphia with the Red Bulls holding the advantage in the series with a 14-12-7 mark, including an 8-2-5 record at Red Bull Arena. The last three regular season meetings between the two clubs have ended in a draw. The Red Bulls currently sit in third place of the Eastern Conference, while the Union are in first place with 57 points. New York enters the match on a four-match unbeaten streak, while Philadelphia enters the match on a three-match winning strak, while outscoring their opponents, 14-1.

The Red Bulls have outscored their opponents, 7-3, during their unbeaten streak. New York set new franchise records in away wins (9) and away points (30) after their victory against CF Montreal on Wednesday. The Red Bulls defense has only allowed 34 goals in 29 matches this season, which ranks tied for the fifth lowest in MLS.

Goalkeeper Carlos Coronel earned his seventh clean sheet of the season and his 21st of his MLS career, when New York defeated CF Montreal, 1-0, on Wednesday night. He is tied for second in MLS in road shutouts with five this season. Coronel will be playing against former team for the fifth time in his career and has recorded 14 saves against Philadelphia, which ranks the third most he has against a single MLS club.

Following Saturday’s match, the Red Bulls will continue their homestand on Saturday, September 10, when they host New England Revolution at Red Bull Arena.
