Preseason Game #1 – Brandon Wins Over ICE

The Brandon Wheat Kings scored three goals in the opening 8:55 and never looked back as they beat the Winnipeg ICE 6-1 to open the WHL preseason schedule for both teams Friday night at Westoba Place.
Matthew Henry, Ben Thornton and Roger McQueen’s first of three goals sparked the home team.
McQueen’s second of the game put the Wheat Kings in front 4-0 after 40 minutes.
Charlie Elick and McQueen’s hat-trick goal rounded out the scoring on ICE goaltender Dawson Cowan.
Winnipeg’s Aiden Oiring broke the shut out bid of Wheat Kings netminder Nicholas Jones at 10:08 of the final frame. Daniel Morozov had the lone assist in his first WHL preseason contest.
Brandon out shot the ICE 28-25.
Both were 0/2 on the power play.
The ICE host the Wheat Kings Saturday night at The RINK Training Centre at 7:00.
