Preseason: Force Top Waterloo 3-1
September 9, 2022 – United States Hockey League (USHL) – Fargo Force News Release
The Force started the weekend on a high note with a 3-1 preseason victory over the Waterloo Black Hawks.
Force returner, Cole Knuble kicked things off with a goal assisted by Brasen Boser around the midway point of the opening frame. His laser from the slot was followed up by a second Force goal shortly after. This time it was Bret Link with a snipe of his own, assisted by Knuble who notched his second point of the night. Link’s goal doubled Fargo’s lead and they closed first period up 2-0.
8 minutes into the second, a top shelf snipe from forward German Yavash assisted by Mac Swanson gave the Force a 3-0 advantage they maintained for the remainder of the period.
The BlackHawks found the back of the net early in the third period but the Force held off their attempts to close the gap and came away with a 3-1 victory in their first game of the Western Conference Preseason Shootout.
Both teams’ goaltenders split time in tonight’s game. For the Force, Nolan Suggs was a perfect 15/15 in the first half, and Anton Castro kept the lead strong, saving 10 of 11.
The Force wrap up weekend tomorrow with a 1:00 PM game vs. the Tri-City Storm. You can watch that and all of the Force’s games this season streamed via FloHockey.
