Peñaranda Save of the Month Nominee

WINDSOR, Colo. – Northern Colorado Hailstorm goalkeeper Johan Peñaranda has been nominated for the August USL League One Fans’ Choice Save of the Month. Peñaranda won the award for Save of the Month in July.
The Save of the Month nominee came from the game against Greenville Triumph SC on August 27. Peñaranda made three saves en route to the clean sheet and 2-0 victory. The nominated save won USL League One Fans’ Choice Save of the Week for Week 22.
Minutes before the Hailstorm took the lead in the win over Greenville, Peñaranda made a save to keep the game nil-nil. In the 58th minute, Jesús Ibarra got a cross away, looking for Peter Pearson in the box. Pearson headed the ball on target from six yards out. Diving to his right, Peñaranda stretched a glove out to deflect the shot. He got enough on the ball to tip it back into play and preserve the clean sheet.

Peñaranda’s Save of the Month in July came from the July 17 match against Charlotte Independence. He came off the bench to make a close-range save in the 3-1 victory.
Northern Colorado is back in action tomorrow evening, September 10, at 7:30 p.m. EDT at Erk Russell Athletic Park in Statesboro, Georgia. The team visits South Georgia Tormenta FC.
