Pats Take on Broncos in Estevan

Regina, Sask. – The Regina Pats head south down the highway to battle the Swift Current Broncos at 7:00 p.m. inside Affinity Place in Estevan, Saskatchewan, Tuesday.

For the Pats, the game marks the first time that they will play at a neutral site since September 14, 2016 when the Pats took on the Brandon Wheat Kings at the Chief Denton George Memorial Multiplex in Ochapowace, Sask. For Swift Current, this contest is the first pre-season game that the Broncos will play at a neutral site for a since September 4, 2019 when they travelled to Irvine, Alta. to play the Medicine Hat Tigers.


All proceeds from the nightly 50/50 as well as one-third of the gate admission will be going to the Estevan Minor Hockey Association to support youth hockey in Estevan.

Affinity Place is the home of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League’s Estevan Bruins, and seats 2,650 for hockey games. Tickets for this game will be available at estevanbruins.com.

MATCH UP

The Pats come in 1-1 on the pre-season. They began their pre-season last weekend, splitting a home-and-home series with the Prince Albert Raiders, winning 3-2 on the road before losing 3-2 at home. Friday, Drew Sim was marvelous in the win, making 20 saves on 20 shots, while Cole Dubinsky (1G-1A), Tye Spencer (1G-1A) and Alexander Suzdalev scored the Pats goals. On Saturday, Connor Bedard scored twice to give the Pats an early 2-0 lead. The Raiders would fire back with three unanswered goals, completing the comeback late in the third period, with Dayce Derkatch scoring the winner with 1:37 to play.

For tonight’s game, Connor Bedard will be in the lineup, as fans in southern Saskatchewan will have the opportunity to see the potential number one overall pick for this years upcoming NHL Draft.

The Broncos on the other hand are 2-0 to start their five game pre-season, with victories over the weekend, as they defeated Moose Jaw 5-4 on the road and 3-1 at home. New Jersey Devils sixth-rounder Josh Filmon has totaled four points (1G-3A) in two games, while 2021 Broncos seventh overall pick Josh Fluker has tallied three assists in two contests. In net, both Reid Dyck and Joey Rocha have played full games, with Rocha allowing just one goal on 31 shots Saturday in the Broncos 3-1 win over the Warriors.

Unfortunately, there will be no WHL Live feed for tonight’s contest. Dante De Caria and Nathan Kanter will have the call on 620 CKRM beginning at 6:35 with the pre-game show. The Pats will have both a radio and WHL Live feed for their next home game, which takes place on Thursday, September 15 at the Brandt Centre against the Winnipeg ICE.
