Regina, Sask. – The Regina Pats host the Swift Current Broncos on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. inside the Brandt Centre

The Pats are coming off a 7-3 victory over the Tri-City Americans on Sunday, snapping the clubs four game losing-streak. The Pats scored a season high seven goals, and a season high four goals in the first period. Connor Bedard matched his career high with five points (2G-3A), while Tanner Howe (1G-2A), Cole Dubinsky (3A), Stanislav Svozil (2A) and Layton Feist (1G-1A) also chipped in with multi-point games. Matthew Kieper got the start in net, making 28 saves in the victory. The final shots were 31-30 for the Americans. The Pats were 1-2 on the power play and 5-6 on the penalty kill.


Meanwhile, the Broncos are coming off a 4-1 loss last night at home to the Red Deer Rebels, which snapped their four game winning-streak. Josh Filmon had the Broncos only goal, while Reid Dyck got the start, allowing four goals on 41 shots, as the Rebels outshot the Broncos 41-20. Swift Current was 0-5 on their power play and 6-8 on their penalty kill.

They are coming off a 26-35-5-2 record last year, good for 59 points, missing the playoffs by two points, finishing tied for ninth with Regina and Calgary. Their biggest success came at the 2022 NHL Draft as Josh Davies (FLA), Connor Hvidston (ANA), Josh Filmon (NJD), Owen Pickering (PIT) and Reid Dyck (BOS) got drafted by NHL clubs.

Regina Pats forward Connor Bedard was named both the WHL’s Player of the Week (3G-5A-8PTS) and Player of the Month for Sept/Oct. The North Vancouver, B.C. product scored 29 points (13G-16A) in 15 games last month. The 5-foot-10, 185 lb. right-shot centre is currently on a 14 game point-streak and leads the WHL in shots (91) as well as goals, assists and points this season.

Longtime Regina Leader-Post sports editor Rob Vanstone was named the the 2022 recipient of the Bob Ridley WHL Award for Media Excellence on Thursday November 3. Vanstone will be presented the Bob Ridley WHL Award for Media Excellence prior to the start of the WHL Regular Season game between the Regina Pats and Swift Current Broncos tonight.
