Pats’ Offence Breaks Out In 7-3 Win Over Tri-City

Regina, Sask. – The Regina Pats moved back to .500 and ended their four-game skid with a decisive 7-3 win over the visiting Tri-City Americans Sunday afternoon at the Brandt Centre.
Pats’ captain Connor Bedard led the way for the Pats as best he could as he collected points like kids collect Halloween candy. His five points (2G-3A) tied a career-high.
Borya Valis, Easton Armstrong, Layton Feist, Tanner Howe, and Tye Spencer also scored for the Pats. Five different Pats had multi-point games including Cole Dubinsky who picked up three assists in the win. Matthew Kieper kicked out 28 of 31 Americans shots in the win.
Tyson Greenway, Jordan Gavin, and Parker Bell replied for the Americans. Tomas Suchanek and Nick Avakyan combined to stop 23 of 30 Pats shots in the loss.
THE GOALS
First Period
REG 1-0 at 2:23 – Borya Valis (5), assisted by Tanner Howe and Connor Bedard// The Pats carried the puck into the Americans zone where Howe found Valis streaking to the net and he made no mistake tucking the puck past Tomas Suchanek to give the Pats a 1-0 lead early in the game.
TC 1-1 at 2:39 – Tyson Greenway (6), assisted by Parker Bell // The Pats got discombobulated in their own zone and Matthew Kieper got out of position and Greenway buried the puck just 16 seconds after the opening goal to tie the game at 1-1.
REG 2-1 at 3:44 – Easton Armstrong (5), assisted by Connor Bedard // The Pats broke into the Americans zone with numbers. Bedard found Armstrong on the right wing and he fired a wrister high past Suchanek to restore the Pats lead at 2-1.
REG 3-1 at 11:53 – Layton Feist (1), assisted by Alexander Suzdalve and Tanner Howe // Numerous American players were caught deep in their end and the puck worked its way out to Suzdalev and he teed up a perfect pass to Feist who fired home a one-timer into the net for his first of the season to extend the lead to 3-1.
REG 4-1 at 13:42 – Connor Bedard (12), assisted by Cole Dubinsky and Layton Feist (4-on-4) // With the Bedard and the Pats carrying the play in the Americans zone, Bedard found himself in the slot where he snapped a shot past a screened Suchanek to extend the lead to 4-1.
Second Period
REG 5-1 at 45 seconds – Tanner Howe (7), assisted by Connor Bedard and Stanislav Svozil // Svozil chipped the puck along the boards to Bedard who threw a perfect pass to Howe who was all alone in front of Suchanek and he tipped the puck past the Americans netminder to give the Pats a four-goal lead at 5-1 early in the second period.
REG 6-1 at 3:07 – Connor Bedard (13), assisted by Stanislav Svozil and Cole Dubinsky (PP) // With the Pats on their first powerplay of the contest, they worked it around the perimeter where it eventually got to Bedard who does Bedard things as he fired it past Suchanek to give the Pats a five-goal lead at 6-1.
REG 7-1 at 19:37- Tye Spencer (5), assisted by Cole Dubinsky (SH) // With the Pats killing another penalty, Dubinsky got the puck up to a streaking Spencer who went in on a breakaway and fired a wrist shot over Nick Avakyan’s glove hand to extend the Pats lead to 7-1.
Third Period
TC 7-2 at 3:27- Jordan Gavin (3), assisted by Jake Sloan // A turnover deep in the Pats zone ended up on Sloan’s stick who quickly sent a pass to the front of the net for Gavin who sent a shot which over Kieper to make it 7-2 early in the third frame.
TC 7-3 at 12:10 – Parker Bell (6), assisted by Lucas Dragicevic and Ethan Ernst (PP) // With the powerplay, the Americans worked the puck to Dragicevic who ripped a point shot that Bell tipped past Kieper to make it 7-3.

NOTES
Connor Bedard extended his point streak to 14 games (13G-16A-29PTS) with his two-goal and three-assist performance. He leads the team in goals, assists, points, and shots.
The seven goals scored today is a season-high (the previous was six in a 6-3 win at Moose Jaw on September 24).
The four-goal victory was the highest differential in a win this season for the Pats.
Brayden Barnett took over the team lead in penalty minutes, he now has 24.
The Pats ended their four-game losing streak in style.
The Pats went 1/2 on the powerplay while going 5/6 on the penalty kill.
Stanislav Svozil extended his point streak to four games (1G-5A).
The four goals scored in the first period was a season high.
