Pats Host Hurricanes in First Afternoon Home Game

Regina, Sask. – The Regina Pats host the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. inside the Brandt Centre, sponsored by CIBC.

The Pats come in with a 6-4 record, riding a three game winning-streak while also winners of four of their last five contests.


The Regiment is coming off a 4-3 victory over the Swift Current Broncos on Friday, improving to 2-0 in the season series. Connor Bedard’s second of the game was the go-ahead goal with eight seconds left in the third period, securing his fourth game winning goal of the season and ninth overall. The Pats also got goals from Easton Armstrong and Sam Oremba who scored his first with the Pats. Tanner Howe also totaled three helpers, reaching 50 assists in his WHL career.

The final shots were 34-26 for the Pats and 13-4 in the third period. Regina went 1-7 on the power play and 0-1 on the penalty kill.

Meanwhile, on the other side, the Lethbridge Hurricanes are coming off a 4-3 loss in Moose Jaw on Saturday, dropping their second straight contest. They are coming off a 33-30-4-1 regular season last year, finishing with 71 points which was good for seventh in the Eastern Conference standings, making the playoffs for a sixth straight season. In the 2021-22 postseason, the Hurricanes were swept by the Edmonton Oil Kings who later went onto win the league championship.

Connor Bedard netted his fourth game winning goal of the season and 11th over his WHL career. Five of his nine goals this season have been to tie or take the lead for the Pats.

Tanner Howe also totaled three assists on Friday in Swift Current, recording his 50th career helper. He now has 85 career points in 82 WHL games.

Cole Dubinsky recorded an assist on Friday, bringing him within one point of 100 in his WHL career. He is now two games away from 200.
