Pats Fall to Warriors 2-1 in Rescheduled Contest

Regina, Sask. – In a game that was originally scheduled to play on Sunday, the Moose Jaw Warriors skated into Regina and took a 2-1 victory over the Pats at the Brandt Centre on Wednesday.

Jagger Firkus and Brayden Yager tallied the Warriors’ goals which were both scored in the first period and held on for the 2-1 win. Connor Ungar made 19 saves on 20 shots to pick up the victory in the Warriors net.


Alexander Suzdalev replied for the Pats who fell to .500 on the season at 6-6-0-1. Drew Sim stopped 20 of 22 Warriors shots in the loss.

THE GOALS

First Period

MJ 0-1 at 7:21 – Jagger Firkus (4), assisted by Atley Calvert and Eric Alarie (PP) // With the Warriors on a powerplay, Calvert fed a cross-ice pass to Firkus who made no mistake and fired it home to make it 1-0 Warriors.

MJ 0-2 at 11:55 – Brayden Yager (5), assisted by Jagger Firkus (PP) // Yager’s shot from the circle eluded Drew Sim to give the Warriors a 2-0 lead.

Second Period

REG 1-2 at 15:14 – Alexander Suzdalev (6), assisted by Stanislav Svozil and Connor Bedard (PP) // After the Warriors failed to clear the puck from their zone, Svozil sent a puck cross-ice to Suzdalev who ripped home a one-timer to get the Pats back to within one at 2-1.

Third Period

No scoring.

NOTES

Connor Bedard collected his 150th career point with an assist on the Pats’ lone goal of the contest.

Connor Bedard extended his point streak to 12 games (10G-12A-22PTS) with his assist. He still leads the team in goals, assists, points, shots and penalty minutes.

After a one-game absence due to injury, the Pats’ second leading scorer Tanner Howe made his return.

Carter Herman returned to the lineup after being recalled from the SJHL’s Yorkton Terriers while fellow defenceman Corbin Vaughan served the final fame of his four-game suspension.

The Pats dropped their third straight game.

UP NEXT

The Pats’ next action is this upcoming weekend when the Everett Silvertips make a stop at the Brandt Centre on Saturday, October 29th. It will be the Silvertips’ first visit to Regina since the 2018-19 season, puck drop is at 7:00 PM. At 4:00 PM on Sunday, October 30th, the Pats take on the Tri-City Americans who will also make their first visit to the Brandt since the 2018-19 season.
