September 9, 2022 – United Soccer League Championship (USL)Orange County SC News Release

Orange County Soccer Club is pleased to announce the signing of defender Ashton Miles and forward Nico Ruiz to USL Pro Academy contracts through the 2022 season.

Miles and Ruiz are currently members of the OCSC II reserve team, and can now also feature for the senior team while still maintaining their collegiate eligibility.

A center back hailing from Fullerton, CA, the 17-year-old Miles is currently attending Orange Lutheran High School, where he plays both soccer and golf for the Lancers. He was named to the 2021 All-Trinity League First Team for his performances on the pitch last season. Miles played his youth club soccer with Legends F.C. and is committed to play his collegiate soccer at the University of California, Los Angeles.

A 16-year-old forward from Costa Mesa, CA, Ruiz currently attends Huntington Beach High School. He played his youth club soccer with Patedores, where he earned 2021-2022 Elite Clubs National League Boys All-Southwest Conference First Team honors. Ruiz is the current top goal scorer for the OCSC II reserve team and plays alongside Jonathan Gomez, Sunheon Hwang and Juan Santana who all have signed USL Pro Academy contracts earlier this year.

Miles and Ruiz are the latest two Southern California players to be added to Orange County SC’s “Pathway to Pro.” They aim to follow the footsteps of players like forward Ronaldo Damus and defender Kobi Henry, who were transferred from OCSC to Sweden and France respectively.

Per club policy, terms of the contract will not be made public.
