Oil Kings Trim Roster by Three

Edmonton, AB – The Edmonton Oil Kings have reassigned two players and released one ahead of their home opener this Friday night against the Red Deer Rebels, the team announced today.

The following players have been reassigned back to their minor hockey clubs:


D Parker Alcos (Northern Alberta Xtreme, U18 Prep)

G Jake Pilon (Calgary Flames, U18 AAA)

Alcos, 16, was listed and signed by the Oil Kings following the team’s training camp this year after attending the camp as a free-agent invite.

The Port Moody, BC, product played in all four of the Oil Kings pre-season games this year.

Pilon, 15, was selected by the Oil Kings in the eighth round, 177th overall, of the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft.

The Calgary, AB, product appeared in parts of two pre-season games with the Oil Kings this year and registered a 3.75 goals-against average and a .848 save-percentage.

In addition, the following player(s) have been released:

F Brendan Hunchak

Hunchak, 19, joined the Oil Kings ahead of training camp this year as a free-agent invite.

The Kamloops, BC, product played in three pre-season games with the Oil Kings and recorded two penalty minutes.

The Oil Kings wish Brendan all the best in his future endeavors.

The Edmonton Oil Kings next home game is their regular season and home opener against the Red Deer Rebels on Friday, September 23 when they will raise their 2021-22 WHL Championship banner to the Rogers Place rafters.
