Oil Kings Blanked in Road Trip Finale

Kent WA – The Edmonton Oil Kings dropped the final game of their U.S. Division road swing in Seattle on Friday night to the Thunderbirds at the accesso ShoWare Center.
In the first period, both teams were granted a couple of power play chances each, and it would be the Thunderbirds using their second man-advantage of the opening frame to grab a 1-0 lead at the first intermission.
Lucas Ciona provided the goal after he tipped in a Kyle Crnkovic shot towards the Edmonton net off a Seattle faceoff win with 3:21 left in the period.
In the second period, the Thunderbirds would increase their lead with another specialty team marker after Jared Davidson was able to find the back of the net with a shorthanded goal at 12:37 of the middle stanza.
In the third period, the Thunderbirds would pull away getting power play goals from Edmonton Oilers prospect Reid Schaefer, Brayden Dube and Tij Iginla along with a shorthanded goal from Crnkovic and an even-strength tally from Nico Myatovic.
Kolby Hay finished the night with 29 saves, while Scott Ratzlaff made 19 saves for the shutout. The Oil Kings went 0-for-5 on the power play, Seattle was 4-for-8.
Next up, the Oil Kings return to Rogers Place on Friday, October 21 when they welcome the Prince Albert Raiders to town for a 7:00 P.M. puck drop.
