Oakland Roots Drop Final Game of the Year 3-1

Oakland Roots got on the board early through a rocket strike from an in form Juan Azócar to give Oakland Roots the 1-0 lead in the 8th minute of the game. Pittsburgh found their way back into the game following the opening Roots goal and dominated the pressure and chances through the half hour mark. Following more sustained pressure Pittsburgh equalized right before the half through Toby Sims as the teams went into the half level at 1-1.


Pittsburgh came out on the front foot early. Scoring the go ahead goal in the 54th through Russell Cicerone to give the home side the 2-1 lead. Pittsburgh would go on to double their lead in the 75th minute when the Oakland back line seemed to give up on the play as Kenardo Forbes finished to make it 3-1.

Oakland ended the game with a 3-1 loss and had to wait for the Las Vegas Lights result ending at 9:30 PM PT to learn their playoff fate.
