NYRB II Falls to Memphis 901 FC, 2-1, at AutoZone Park

MEMPHIS, TN – New York Red Bulls II (3-24-6, 15 points) fell to Memphis 901 FC (20-8-5, 65 points) 2-1 on Sunday, October 9, at AutoZone Park.
Red Bulls II opened the scoring in the 13th minute, as Omar Valencia sent a pass across midfield that found Stiven Plaza on a breakaway. The Ecuadorian striker moved towards goal and sent in a shot to give New York the lead.
Memphis leveled the match in the 21st minute on a penalty kick from Aaron Molloy.
The home side took the lead in the 87th minute, as Jeremy Kelly wove through defenders on the far side and sent through a low cross that took a deflection to Phillip Goodrum, who tapped the ball into the back of the net.
The goal for Plaza was the first of his Red Bulls II career. Valencia’s assist was his first with New York in just his second match for the club.
Alan Rutkowski tallied a career-high five saves in his second career professional start.
O’Vonte Mullings moved into third in club history for minutes in a single season at 2,668, passing Andrew Tinari.
Following the match, New York will travel to face the Tampa Bay Rowdies for its 2022 USL Championship regular season finale on Saturday, October 15. Kickoff at Al Lang Stadium is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET with coverage available on ESPN+.
