Norsemen Fall to Bobcats & Minotauros

Norsemen took the ice on Friday against the Bismarck Bobcats with a scoreless first period until the 17:09 mark with a Bobcat goal from Luke Roelofs and they added to their lead with a short handed goal at the 4:32 mark of the second period with a tally from Adam Pietila. The Norsemen got a quick goal only :21 into the third period with Kade Peterson’s 6 goal of the season with assist going to Perbix and Kiffin. Evan Pahos tied the game at the 11:44 mark of the third with a goal assisted by Murnieks and Wurst. The Bobcats were quick to respond getting a goal 21 seconds later from Roelofs, the second of the game for him. Norsemen fell 2-3 with shots on goal 29 to 18 in favor of the Norsemen.
Looking for a split, the Norsemen found themselves playing from behind after a quick goal from Drew Holt at the 1:42 mark of the first. Norsemen were able to respond quickly with a goal from Charlie Wind, the first of the season for him and assisted by Hanson and Murnieks. Bobcats added two more goals with a PP tally by Jantunen at 8:21 and a goal by Atchison at the 11:01 mark to end the first period down 3-1. The penalties started to add up in the second period with the Norsemen adding a PP goal from Andrew Clarke at the 13:33 mark and assist going to Peterson and Hanson to come within one goal. The final 20 minutes were off to a quick start with a tally from the Bobcats 43 seconds in from Neumeier. Bobcats made it 5-2 with a goal from Doll at the 2:35 mark and added a PP goal at 10:12 from Beaumont to make it 6-2 Bobcats. The Norsemen started to rally with a PP marker from Hunter Hanson at the 11:50 mark followed by a Daniels Murnieks goal at 12:47 to make it a 4-6 game. The Norsemen elected for the extra attacker early only to see the Bobcats seal the victory with a empty net goal at the 13:21 mark making it 7-4 Bobcats to end out the scoring. Shots on goal favored the Norsemen 34 to 27.
The Norsemen wrapped up the road trip with a Sunday game taking on the Minot Minotauros. Minot was able to get on the board at the 4:05 mark of the first with a PP goal by Cooper Rice in a period that had the Norsemen in the box three times. Both teams were unable to take advantage on the power play with a scoreless second period. Once again, the Minotauros were able to strike quickly with a goal from Fischer at the 3:00 mark of the third leaving the Norsemen down by two. Kade Peterson netted his 7th of the season with a PP goal at the 19:22 mark of the third assisted by Evan Pahos but the late game rally was ended with a empty net goal by Minot at the 19:44 mark for a 3-1 victory. Shots on goal were 36 to 33 in favor of the Norsemen.
