NAHL Announces Bauer Hockey Stars of the Week

DALLAS, TEXAS – The North American Hockey League (NAHL) today announced the Divisional Stars of the Week presented by Bauer Hockey for the week ending September 11, 2022. The Divisional Stars of the Week is a weekly feature during the 2022-23 regular season that honors the top performing players in each of the four NAHL divisions. Only players that are nominated by their respective teams are considered for the Divisional Players of the Week award.


Central Division Star of the Week: No Games

East Division Star of the Week: William Hakansson, Goaltender, Maryland Black Bears

Maryland Black Bears goalie William Hakansson, 19, made the most of his NAHL debut this past weekend as he helped the Black Bears pick up a weekend home sweep of the defending Robertson Cup Champion New Jersey Titans. The 6’1/180 lbs. native of Oskarshamm, Sweden, stopped 39 of 42 shots in the two games, allowing just three goals. On Friday in his NAHL debut, Hakansson made 22 saves in a 4-2 win. On Saturday, he stopped 17 of 18 shots in a 3-1 win. “William has shown early on he can be a steady influence in our net. He came to Maryland and the NAHL to gain some exposure, and I guess I would say ‘mission accomplished’ based on his two starts. Congrats to William on his league debut,” said Black Bears head coach Clint Mylymok.

Midwest Division Star of the Week: Kayden Hargraves, Goaltender, Fairbanks Ice Dogs

Fairbanks Ice Dogs veteran goalie Kayden Hargraves, 20, led his team to a season-opening weekend road sweep of the Minnesota Wilderness. The 6’1/175 lbs. native of Cheyenne, WY, allowed just four goals in the two wins, stopping 66 of 70 shots in the process. On Friday, Hargraves, who is also an NA3HL grad, made 32 saves in a 6-2 win. On Saturday, he increased his output, making 34 saves in a 3-2 win to complete the sweep. “Kaden has a mindset that feeds his consistency and toughness the goaltending position demands. He was solid and played very well the entire weekend,” said Ice Dogs head coach Dave Allison.
