Multiple Musketeers Named Players to Watch

Sioux City, IA – NHL Central Scouting released their preliminary players to watch list for the 2023 NHL Draft on Tuesday. On it were four current Sioux City Musketeers which include defensemen Kevin Fitzgerald and Ty Hanson and forwards Benjamin Poitras and Kaden Shahan.
The list is a compilation of draft-eligible prospects from all the major development leagues throughout North America and Europe. It is updated throughout the season as scouts evaluate players.
There are four different categories in this list. An A Rating is designated for a player projected to go in the first round. B Ratings indicate a second or third round player. C Ratings are designated for players projected to go in the fourth, fifth or sixth rounds. An LV Rating is for an injured player who has not had enough game action to be properly evaluated.
Kevin Fitzgerald: C Rating
The Bath, Ontario native is in his first season with the Musketeers and is committed to play collegiate hockey at the University of Connecticut.
On the season the 5’11, 180 pound defenseman has a plus/minus of 1 and has played in every game but one.
Ty Hanson: C Rating
Hanson has yet to play in a regular season game for the Musketeers after being injured in the preseason opener against Omaha.
The Minnesota-Duluth commit is in his second season with Sioux City after appearing in four games with the club last year. He did not register a point and had a plus/minus of zero.
Benjamin Poitras: C Rating
The first forward on the list for Sioux City is 5’10, 177 pound Benjamin Poitras. The Toronto native is enjoying his first season with the Musketeers.
Through seven games he has accrued four points, split between two goals and two assists. Including a goal scored in Saturday’s 3-2 win over Sioux Falls. He is committed to Northeastern University.
Kaden Shahan: C Rating
In his first season with the Musketeers, Shahan has quickly made an impact on the team leading the Musketeers in goals through seveng ames with five including a multi-goal game against Chicago on September 23rd.
Shahan also scored a goal in Sioux City’s most recent win over Sioux Falls. The 5’10, 162 pound Everrett, Washington native is the only member on this list that has yet to commit to a school.
Former Sioux City Musketeer forward, Jimmy Clark, was also named to the list as a C Rating. Clark was traded by Sioux City to the Green Bay Gamblers this past summer to complete the Damien Carfagna trade. Clark in 13 games last year for Sioux City collected three assists.
The Sioux City Musketeers hit the road this weekend to take on the Fargo Force for a pair of games, both in Fargo beginning on Friday at 7:05 pm.
