Montreal Alouettes Partner with Purolator for the Return of the Tackle Hunger

September 21, 2022 – Canadian Football League (CFL)Montreal Alouettes News Release

Montreal – The Montreal Alouettes are calling for the generosity of their supporters on Friday, September 23, as part of the 18th edition of Purolator Tackle Hunger.

The Alouettes will host the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Percival-Molson Memorial Stadium at 7:30 p.m. and encourage fans to bring non-perishable food items, and make cash or credit card donations for people in need.

Starting at 6:00 p.m., containers will be dropped off at each entrance of the stadium, as Alouettes cheerleaders as well as Moisson Montréal and Purolator’s generous volunteers will help collect donations. Healthy staples such as canned fish, lentils, rice and chickpeas are welcomed items.

To thank fans for their generosity, they will also have the opportunity to have their picture taken with the Grey Cup at the Purolator booth located at the east entrance of the stadium.

The Alouettes and Purolator have been partnering for 18 years, and together they’ve donated hundreds of thousands of pounds of food to local food banks.

Donations collected during the event will support Moisson Montreal, a non-profit organization that distributes food to more than 257 accredited community organizations on the island of Montreal, which is equivalent to 137,000 people, including nearly 45,000 children.

Since 2019, the pandemic and inflation have caused a 26 per cent increase in demand for Moisson Montréal’s services. Many of these new users are fully employed, but are having trouble keeping up with inflation. Grocery prices are up more than 10%. This is why it’s more important than ever that we step up as a community to help our local food banks.

“It is a great honour for me to be associated with such a great cause, not everyone can eat three meals a day. As an athlete, I felt I had to do my part,” says Pierre-Luc Caron, long-snapper with the Montreal Alouettes.

People who are unable to attend the game can make a donation to Moisson Montreal by purolatortacklehunger.com.
